Selecting the right shooting targets depends on what you're shooting, where you're shooting, and what you want to get out of each session. A competitive benchrest shooter zeroing at 100 yards has very different needs to someone plinking with an air rifle in the garden, and we stock targets and range accessories for both ends of the spectrum and everything in between.
Paper targets remain the foundation of accurate shooting. From standard bullseye designs and competition-grade scoring targets through to silhouette and practical shooting formats, paper targets give you a permanent record of each group. They're ideal for zeroing scopes, testing ammunition consistency, and tracking your progress over time. We carry targets from brands like Birchwood Casey, Bisley, and Jack Pyke in a variety of sizes to suit pistol, rifle, and air gun distances.
For shooters who want instant visual feedback, reactive and exploding targets are a step up from paper. Reactive targets change colour or splatter on impact so you can see your hits clearly from the firing point, no need to walk downrange after every string. Exploding targets add a satisfying visual and audible confirmation, making them popular for both recreational shooting and vermin practice drills.
If you prefer something more robust and reusable, our knockdown and spinning targets are built to take thousands of shots. Metal reset targets, spinner targets, and animal silhouette knockdowns are especially popular with air rifle and rimfire shooters. They add a dynamic element to practice sessions and are great for building speed and transitional shooting skills.
Beyond targets, we stock essential range equipment to make your sessions more comfortable and productive. Shooting chronographs let you measure muzzle velocity and shot-to-shot consistency, invaluable for reloaders and anyone fine-tuning their setup. Padded range mats provide a clean, cushioned surface for prone and benchrest shooting, protecting both you and your rifle. And for clay shooters, we carry clay targets and accessories suitable for manual and automatic traps.
As a Registered Firearms Dealer, we understand that range time is where confidence and competence are built. Our team can advise on the best target types for your discipline, recommend range setups for different shooting distances, and help you find the right accessories to get the most from every session. Paper targets are the best option for zeroing because they give you a precise, measurable record of each shot's point of impact. Grid-style or bullseye targets with clearly marked increments make it straightforward to calculate and apply scope adjustments. Reactive paper targets that change colour on impact can also help you spot shots more easily at longer distances.
Yes, many reactive targets are specifically designed for use with air rifles and are perfectly safe when used as directed. Birchwood Casey Shoot-N-C and similar adhesive reactive targets work well at typical air rifle energies. Some exploding targets require higher velocities, so always check the manufacturer's minimum energy rating before use.
A chronograph is not essential for casual target shooting, but it becomes very useful if you want to optimise accuracy. Knowing your muzzle velocity helps you calculate bullet drop, choose the right pellets or ammunition, and verify consistency between shots. It's particularly valuable for reloaders and long-range shooters who need precise ballistic data.
A good range mat should be well padded for comfort during prone shooting, large enough to support your full body length, and made from a durable, water-resistant material that can handle outdoor use. Non-slip backing is a useful feature to prevent the mat shifting on smooth surfaces. Look for mats with integrated elbow pads and side pockets for added convenience.
Standard air rifle knockdown targets are not designed for centrefire use and would be damaged or dangerous. If you're shooting centerfire rifles, look for targets rated for the calibre and velocity you're using, typically AR500 or Hardox steel plate targets designed for rifle-calibre impacts. Always follow the manufacturer's minimum safe distance guidelines.
