- What shooting accessories do I need to get started?
At a minimum, you'll want hearing protection and eye protection for any range or field use. Beyond that, the accessories you need depend on your discipline. - Do I need a firearms certificate for a rifle moderator in the UK?
Sound moderators for firearms are currently classified as a firearm under the Firearms Act 1968, meaning they must be listed on your firearms certificate (FAC). However, moderators for sub-12 ft/lb air rifles do not require a certificate. The UK Government announced in June 2025 that it intends to remove moderators from licensing controls, though the legislation has not yet been enacted. - How do I choose the right bipod for my rifle?
The main considerations are mounting type, leg height, and intended use. Most bolt-action hunting rifles use a sling swivel stud mount (Harris-style), while AR-platform and M-Lok-equipped rifles suit a Picatinny or direct M-Lok bipod. For prone shooting, a 6–9 inch bipod usually works well, for shooting from a bench or in longer grass, consider a taller 9–13 inch model.
