Shotguns with a larger magazine including many semi-autos and pump actions with extended tubes are classified as Section 1 firearms and require a Firearm Certificate (FAC) instead. You apply through the firearms licensing unit of your local police force. The process includes a background check, a visit from a Firearms Enquiry Officer, a GP medical declaration, and a check on your gun storage. Yes. Buckshot and shotgun slugs are legal to buy in the UK, but they are classified as Section 1 ammunition. You need a Firearm Certificate with the appropriate calibre and ammunition allowance to purchase them, a standard Shotgun Certificate is not sufficient.
