Description

The Benelli Lupo Granite Moss Synthetic Rifle .223 20" is a fox and small deer rifle built on the same steel and aluminium chassis as the rest of Benelli's Lupo family. The green and grey stock carries a black webbed texture that gives a sure hold in wet weather.

Twenty inches suits .223 well. The cartridge does not need a long barrel to do its job, and with a centre fire rifle moderator on the muzzle the rifle stays easy to carry in a vehicle, take up a high seat or swing off sticks. It is at home foxing and lamping, and with a suitable load it meets the legal minimum for muntjac and Chinese water deer in England and Wales. For roe and larger deer, a .243 or .308 Lupo is the better choice.

Fit is the Lupo's strong suit. Set drop, cast and length of pull with the supplied kit before you zero, so your eye lands behind the scope without lifting your head. A rifle that fits groups more consistently, and that is how you get the most from the sub-MOA certificate.

Try two or three 223 Rem ammunition loads before settling on one, and leave the trigger towards the heavier end if you shoot in gloves. The rifle requires a firearms certificate (FAC) with .223 on your conditions, and makes a sensible step up among our bolt action rifles for anyone moving from rimfire to centrefire foxing.

Product Information

Are Benelli Lupo rifles good?

The Lupo's strengths are fit and accuracy. Each rifle leaves the factory with a sub-MOA certificate for a three-shot group, and the stock adjusts for drop, cast and length of pull. The Granite Moss keeps that chassis and fit system in a synthetic stock built for field use, which makes it a practical working rifle rather than a showpiece.

How accurate is the Lupo Granite Moss?

Benelli tests every Lupo and supplies a certificate showing a three-shot group under one minute of angle with quality factory ammunition. One MOA is roughly one inch at 100 yards. Your own results depend on fit, ammunition and scope mounting, so set the stock up properly and try a few loads before judging it.

What can I shoot with a .223 Lupo in the UK?

.223 Rem is a popular fox calibre. With a bullet of at least 50 grains and 1,000 ft lb of muzzle energy, it is also legal for muntjac and Chinese water deer in England and Wales. Roe, fallow, red and sika need .240 calibre or larger there. Scotland has its own rules, and your FAC conditions decide what you can shoot and where.
