The Blaser R8 Professional 2.0 in 6.5 Creedmoor is the hardened version of the R8 straight pull, built around a DLC A+ coated barrel and a synthetic stock with a comb you adjust at the push of a button.
The Blaser R8 Professional 2.0 in 6.5 Creedmoor takes a straight pull that has been earning its keep in the hills for years and hardens it for people who actually work their rifles. The headline change is the DLC A+ coating on the barrel. It is harder than a conventional finish, considerably more corrosion resistant, and it asks very little of you at the end of a wet day on the hill. The deep, silky matte black finish is a pleasant side effect rather than the point of it.
The stock is the other half of the story. Fully synthetic, with a comb that moves anywhere across 30 mm at the push of a button. No tools, no shims, no guesswork in the field after you have swapped a scope or moved from bipod to sticks. Length of pull starts at 370 mm with 355 and 390 mm modules available, so the rifle can be set up properly for the shooter rather than approximately. The pistol grip sits at a steeper angle for a more relaxed shooting hand and carries an ambidextrous palm swell, so left handers are not an afterthought. Elastomer inserts on the grip and fore-end keep hold when your hands are wet and cold.
Illumination Control is worth knowing about if you are running Blaser glass. Cocking the rifle switches the illuminated reticle on, which saves a fumble in poor light and gives you a clear signal that the rifle is cocked.
In 6.5 Creedmoor this makes a lot of sense for open ground: flat enough for confident shots at stalking distances and mild enough in recoil to stay on target for a follow-up. As with any R8, barrels, bolt heads and trigger units interchange, so one rifle covers several jobs.
This is a Section 1 firearm. A current firearms certificate showing the relevant calibre is required.

You can change it. Barrels come off with a hex key and two screws, and moving between calibre groups also means swapping the bolt head and the magazine insert. Blaser supply R8 barrels from .223 Rem upwards, so one receiver and stock can cover fox, roe and larger deer. R8 barrels do not fit the older R93.
They are different stocks on the same R8 action. The Professional Success uses a thumbhole stock, with leather inlay options on some versions. The Professional 2.0 has a synthetic sporter stock with an ambidextrous palm swell, elastomer grip inserts, a comb you adjust at the push of a button and a DLC A+ coated barrel.
Yes, as standard. The Professional 2.0 stock has an ambidextrous double palm swell rather than being cut for one hand, so there is no left-hand version to order and wait for. The straight pull is worked back and forward rather than rotated, which most left-handed shooters find easier to operate on a right-hand action.
