Description

Key Features:

  • Caldwell Matrix Shooting Rest 101600 combines front-rest and full-length configurations for flexible bench setup

  • 4.5 inches of length adjustment accommodates different firearm sizes

  • Ultra-rigid U-channel frame uses moulded supports to keep the structure firm

  • Spring-loaded tension system and height knob enable quick one-handed elevation changes

  • Open centre channel clears detachable magazines and lever-action firearms

  • Overmoulded front and rear supports help protect the firearm finish

  • Removable rear frame converts the unit to a compact front rest

This is a practical bench rest for zeroing and target work with firearms. Caldwell's sliding frame adjusts support length, while the open centre leaves clearance around detachable magazines and lever-action mechanisms. The front control gives quick elevation changes without disturbing the arrangement.

Use it at full length when support at both ends suits the firearm. Removing the rear section creates a smaller front-only rest when the full frame is unnecessary. Before use, check that the firearm sits securely in both cradles and that controls, magazine and trigger remain unobstructed. Within the Caldwell range, it suits bench zeroing and target practice alongside other bipods and shooting rests.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Caldwell Matrix be used as a front rest only?

Yes. The rear section of the Caldwell Matrix can be removed, converting the full-length unit into a compact front rest. This gives you a smaller support when rear stock support is unnecessary, while retaining the adjustable front cradle. Always confirm the firearm is stable and its controls remain clear before shooting.

Does the centre channel provide clearance for detachable magazines?

Yes. The open centre channel is designed to provide clearance for detachable magazines and lever-action firearms. Its sliding frame also offers 4.5 inches of length adjustment, helping the rest accommodate different firearm dimensions. Fit still depends on the individual firearm, so check that the action, magazine and trigger area remain unobstructed.

How is the front elevation adjusted?

A spring-loaded tension mechanism works with the height adjustment knob to provide quick, one-handed elevation changes. Caldwell states that this arrangement keeps the front cradle free from wobble through its vertical range. Make the adjustment with the firearm safely positioned, then confirm the support is secure before continuing your zeroing or target session.

Will the supports protect the firearm's finish?

The front and rear supports are overmoulded to help protect the firearm's finish. They are also designed to remain firm rather than introducing give or play into the support. Keep the contact surfaces clean before placing a firearm in the rest, as trapped grit could still mark a stock or metalwork.
