A neoprene backpack-style harness sling that carries a rifle or shotgun flat on the back with both hands free. Non-slip lining and sling swivels included.
This sling is for the days when the gun is carried far more than it is fired. Two straps over both shoulders put the rifle or shotgun flat across your back, the way a rucksack sits, so the weight is shared and neither hand is committed to holding a strap in place. Sticks, binoculars, a dog lead, a gate: all handled without the gun swinging round or sliding off a shoulder.
The trade-off is speed. Getting a gun off a harness takes longer than slipping a single strap, so this is not the sling for a driven day or for the last hundred yards of a stalk, where the rifle should be in hand anyway. It earns its keep on the walk in and out, on long beating lines, and on rough shooting where you cover ground between shots. If you would rather a single strap that gets the gun up quicker, the Pro Hunt Neoprene Sling is the simpler option from the same maker.
Neoprene is quiet against a stock and shrugs off rain, which is why it has largely replaced webbing on the better rifle slings. Fit it to your existing sling studs with the swivels supplied and set the strap length so the muzzle sits above your shoulder.
