The Perdrix is a soft slip built for the rifle that gets used. It covers the walk from the car to the high seat, the boot on the way to a permission, and the cabinet between outings, and it does all of that lighter, quieter and quicker to get into than a rigid case. A hard case still earns its place for flights, couriers and a van full of kit, and the slip goes inside it for those.
The 135 cm length is the figure to check before ordering. Measure the rifle with the moderator fitted, since that is how most stalking rifles are carried, and allow a little slack at the muzzle end. Most bolt actions with a mid-length barrel and a moderator fit with room to spare. Long-barrelled foxing rifles with a full-length moderator are worth measuring twice.
The top flap opening earns its keep on wet days. Unzip it, stand the slip open, and the lining and the rifle dry out separately overnight. The suede-effect outer wipes clean and comes back to shape once it has dried, which is the practical advantage of suedette over the real thing.
