The Holosun 407C X3 is a pared-back open-emitter red dot on the RMR footprint, giving you a single crisp 2 MOA dot with no reticle menu to fuss over. The X3 update adds a reinforced 7075-T6 aluminium housing, backed by Solar Failsafe and Shake Awake, for a simple, hard-wearing optic on long-barrelled pistols, gallery rifle and rimfire.
Key Features:
Single 2 MOA red dot gives a clean, uncluttered sight picture for fast, instinctive aiming
RMR footprint mounts directly to any optics-ready slide or plate cut for it, with no adapter needed
Reinforced 7075-T6 aluminium housing is the 407C X3 update, hard anodised and sealed to IP67 with 5000G vibration resistance
Side-loading CR1632 battery changes without unmounting the optic or disturbing zero
Solar Failsafe draws on ambient light as backup while Shake Awake sleeps the sight when idle and wakes it on movement
Up to 50,000 hours of runtime at setting 6, with a lockout mode to prevent accidental setting changes
12 brightness settings including four night-vision levels, adjusting in 1 MOA clicks across ±50 MOA of travel
Not every shooter wants a reticle menu to scroll through. Where the 507C offers a switchable circle-dot system, the 407C keeps things deliberately simple: one clean 2 MOA red dot, and nothing to get in the way of a fast, instinctive sight picture. For a lot of shooters that is exactly the point.
The X3 revision brings the platform up to date with a reinforced 7075-T6 aluminium housing, hard anodised for a tougher shell, while the proven open-emitter layout and RMR footprint carry over. That footprint is the industry standard, so the sight drops straight onto any slide or mounting plate cut for it without an adapter.
The 650nm red emitter stays crisp across twelve brightness settings, four of them night-vision compatible. Power comes from a side-loading CR1632 that can be changed without lifting the sight off its mount, backed by Solar Failsafe drawing on ambient light and by Shake Awake, which sleeps the unit when idle and wakes it on movement. Rated up to 50,000 hours at setting 6, it will run a long time between battery changes.
Toughness is built in. The housing is sealed to IP67 and rated to 5000G of vibration, the lens is multi-coated with unlimited eye relief, and a lockout mode holds the settings once they are where you want them. Windage and elevation adjust in 1 MOA clicks with ±50 MOA of travel.
A straightforward, durable choice for long-barrelled pistols, gallery rifle and rimfire shooters who want Holosun's proven platform stripped back to a single dot.

The main change is the housing. The X3 uses a reinforced 7075-T6 aluminium body, hard anodised for a tougher shell than the X2. Everything else that matters carries over: the same RMR footprint, the single 2 MOA dot, Solar Failsafe, Shake Awake and the side-loading battery. It is a durability update rather than a redesign, so an X2 owner is not missing out on features.
The reticle is the only real difference. The 407C X3 gives you a single 2 MOA dot and nothing else, for a clean, uncluttered sight picture. The 507C X3 adds the Multi-Reticle System, so you also get a 32 MOA circle and a circle-dot to switch between. Housing, footprint, solar and battery are identical. Choose the 407C if you only ever run a plain dot and prefer the simpler, lower-cost option, or the 507C if you want the circle for faster close-range pickup.
It uses the RMR footprint, the most common optics-ready cut, so it mounts directly to any slide or plate machined for that pattern without an adapter. In UK terms that means optics-ready long-barrelled pistols, gallery rifle setups, and rimfire or carbine platforms fitted with an RMR plate. Check your slide or mount is cut for the RMR footprint before ordering.
Yes. It has twelve brightness settings, four of which are night-vision compatible, alongside eight daylight levels. The 2 MOA red dot adjusts in 1 MOA clicks with ±50 MOA of windage and elevation travel, and the lens is multi-coated with unlimited eye relief for a clear picture with both eyes open.
