Description

This is a muzzle can for a 6.5 that gets shot a lot. Nearly all of its length sits forward of the muzzle, so it is most at home on a rifle shot from a bipod or bags rather than one carried all day on a stalk. The extra weight out front is noticeable on the sling and much less so once the rifle is rested.

If you shoot standard rather than magnum cartridges and length matters more, the shorter Elite Compact in 6.5 is built the same way and suits a short woodland stalking rifle. For a lighter build on a hunting rifle, the Elite Titanium in 6.5 is made entirely from grade 5 titanium. Over-barrel designs in our centre fire rifle moderators range add less length again.

The thread sections are dealer fitted rather than user changeable, so order the pitch your barrel takes. If you move to a new rifle in the same calibre, an authorised Wildcat dealer can fit a new thread section. Take the moderator off after each outing, as Wildcat advises that moisture left inside can damage the barrel. A firearms certificate (FAC) is required.

It earns its place on a dedicated target or long-range 6.5 that sees plenty of range days.

Product Information

What do Wildcat moderators do?

A moderator reduces the report at the muzzle and some of the felt recoil, which makes for a more comfortable range day and less disturbance in the field. It does not make a centrefire rifle silent. The Elite does this with a front mounted dual core design, and in 6.5 calibre it is rated for magnum as well as standard cartridges.

Can the thread on the Wildcat Elite be changed?

Yes, but not at home. Elite thread sections are not user changeable, so the moderator goes back to a Wildcat dealer with the specialist tools to have a new section fitted. Order the right pitch first time, and know that the Elite can follow you to a new rifle in the same calibre.

Should I choose the Wildcat Elite or the Elite Compact?

Choose the full-size Elite if you shoot magnum cartridges or want it on a dedicated range rifle. The Wildcat Elite Compact in 6.5 is the shorter option for standard, non-magnum calibres, built the same way and better suited to a short woodland stalking rifle or any rifle where added length matters.

Do I need a firearms certificate to buy the Wildcat Elite?

Yes. In the UK a moderator for a centrefire rifle is held on a firearms certificate (FAC), so you need an FAC that authorises one before you can buy it. If you are adding a moderator to a rifle you already own, check the conditions on your certificate before ordering.
