The A-Tec Marksman PRS Sound Moderator 6.5 Cal mounts over the A-Tec Marksman muzzle brake rather than threading onto the barrel, so it fits and removes in seconds while the brake stays timed to your rifle. Cerakote finished and built for hard professional use, it cuts sound pressure by around 30 dBC (A-Tec's figure, measured in .338 LM).
Key Features:
Mounts over the Marksman muzzle brake (sold separately) so it fits and removes in seconds without disturbing your zero
Brake stays permanently fitted and timed to the barrel, with thread options from 14x1 to 5/8"-24 UNEF
Cerakote moderator body and black nitrided brake shrug off hard field use
Compact 44 mm diameter and 218 mm overall, adding 155 mm ahead of the muzzle
Sound pressure reduced by 30 dBC on the maker's figures, measured in .338 LM
Same system available in .30 and .338 cal for a mixed cabinet on one brake
The A-Tec Marksman PRS Sound Moderator 6.5 Cal takes a different approach from a standard thread-on moderator: it mounts over the A-Tec Marksman muzzle brake (sold separately) rather than onto the barrel itself. The brake stays permanently fitted and timed to your rifle, and the moderator screws over it in seconds, so you can run the brake alone on the range and add the moderator for stalking, foxing or shared firing points without re-zeroing every time you switch.
Built for professional use, the moderator body is Cerakote finished while the matching brake is black nitrided, a combination the maker describes as diamond hard. Published figures for the Marksman are a 44 mm diameter, 218 mm overall length and 585 g weight, with 155 mm added ahead of the muzzle once fitted; the remaining length sleeves back over the brake, keeping the package compact on a long precision barrel. A-Tec quotes a sound pressure reduction of 30 dBC, measured in .338 LM, and this 6.5 cal version applies the same design to popular precision calibres such as 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5x55. The same moderator is also made in .30 and .338 cal versions, so a mixed cabinet can standardise on one brake-and-moderator system.
Because the brake carries the barrel thread, fitment is decided by the brake you order: it is offered in metric and imperial threads from 14x1 up to 5/8"-24 UNEF. Check the thread stamped on your barrel or in your rifle's manual before choosing.
A strong choice for PRS competitors, stalkers and foxers running a 6.5 centrefire who want brake and moderator in one fast-switching system.

You need a valid firearms or shotgun certificate to hold a moderator intended for a centrefire rifle. Since 29 June 2026 it no longer needs to be listed on your certificate, no variation is required and there is no paperwork at purchase.
It does not thread onto the barrel directly. It mounts over the A-Tec Marksman muzzle brake, which is sold separately in threads from 14x1 to 5/8"-24 UNEF. Check the thread stamped on your barrel or in your rifle's manual, then order the matching brake.
They are different products despite the shared name. The PRS 2 and PRS 3 are standalone hybrid moderators with their own integrated brake, while the Marksman PRS is a moderator that mounts over the separate Marksman muzzle brake, letting you run the brake alone when you want to.
A-Tec quotes a 30 dBC reduction measured in .338 Lapua Magnum, and does not publish a separate figure for 6.5. That is a strong reduction for a centrefire moderator, but it does not make a rifle quiet, so hearing protection is still sensible on the range.
