A Vantage will work and plenty of people use them, but the Airmax is built for the job.
Not more magnification. A 30mm tube and the HD glass buy you a wider field of view, more elevation adjustment and better light transmission at dusk. If you mostly shoot in good light at known ranges, the standard Vantage is enough.
